Step #1 - Planning Your Treatment (Initial Consultation)
The most important part of implant procedure is a good preparation that includes accurate and detailed CT scan analysis and selection of best prosthetic solution.
Step #2 - Implant placement
You have no reason to worry - placing implants is a quick and painless process.
The procedure of implant placement is most commonly performed in local anesthesia. The length of the procedure will largely depend on how many implants you receive. Typically, it can take one hour if just one implant is placed, while multiple implant placements takes two to three hours. Compromised teeth can also be extracted at the same time that the implants are placed for added convenience.
After the surgery, you will have very minimal discomfort in the implant area. You can expect to feel some tenderness, and there will be a few dissolvable sutures in the gum tissue. It will take about 2 weeks for the incisions in your gums to heal. We will wait and monitor the area while the bone integrates around the implant.
Over the next three to six months, your implants will fuse with the surrounding jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. During this time, you will have follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and determine when are ready for your permanent restoration.
Once the area is healed and the implant is integrated fully into the jawbone, a crown will be placed on top of the implant screw.
